Organisation Goals 2007/2008

Antenatal Education
Having developed a sound Scope of Practice for Childbirth Educators CEA will now develop a clear antenatal course outline that emphasises the uniqueness of what CEA offers.  This will be undertaken by a working party of both educators and committee members.

Childbirth Choices Project
Developing and operating this project, funded by a one-of grant from Queensland Health, was an exciting achievement for CEA.  There will be a continued focus on the Project as CEA explores funding options.

Promotion
The promotion of CEA is enhanced by consumer representation roles, networking, the Childbirth Choices Project and involvement in the development of the Centre for Mothers and Babies.  To increase promotional opportunities CEA will initiate stronger links with hospitals, GPs, Women’s Health Queensland wide and other community and health organisations.  CEA will consider (funds allowing) to employ a professional to do some media promotion.  There will be a one-off strategic meeting to discuss promotional roles and possibilities.

Membership Secretary
This position was created to connect with members.  CEA will put together a position description as this is an important way to support and stay in touch with our members.

Women’s Correctional Centre Project
This project will continue in 2008 by providing antenatal courses, which has been funded by a Gambling Community Benefit Grant, in conjunction with Soroptimists International Brisbane.  CEA’s continued

involvement in this project will depend on the availability of resources.

Toy Library
The North side Toy Library and the Southside Party Packs will continue for the next period.  CEA will explore some promotional avenues to boost the service.

Centre For Mothers And Babies
CEA will continue to develop a relationship with the emerging Centre (depending on who receives the Tender) as a way to improve maternity services for women, promote CEA, have a relationship with Queensland Health and build networks with others in the maternity sector.

Consumer Representation

CEA will continue to have CEA members as representatives on committees.  Supporting and training consumer reps will continue to be explored.  Our consumer representatives will report back to CEA members via a regular page in the newsletter 4 times a year, and through reports to the Management Committee.

Newsletter
CEA will continue to produce a quarterly newsletter and seek more contributions from members.  The Newsletter Working Party will continue to support the editor.

Meetings and Communication
This year CEA will trial more flexible meeting options including using an email group to discuss issues prior to meetings.

Future Areas of Interest
• A working Party to discuss strengthening our services for men
• Exploring Grants opportunities, including a Grants Writing Officer
• Paying consultation fees to members involved in Project work
